Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted.
Exodus 15:1
Bible scholar Matthew Henry tells us, “this song is the most ancient we know of. It is a holy song, to the honor of God, to exalt his name and celebrate his praise.”
I really enjoy praise and worship music and use it often as my way of honoring God. As I travel back and forth to campus from our home you can hear The Message radio station blaring from my car. Songs of praise touch my heart in ways that are difficult to express. I have felt closest to God exalting Him in song.
One of my favorite songs is “Shout to the Lord” performed by Chris Tomlin. The song speaks of shouting to the Lord and singing for joy. It ends with the reminder of the promise we have been given by God.
This Advent season as you sing along to your radio remember that God sent a baby to fulfill His promise to us and all we have to do is to ask Him into our lives.
