Let Go! Let GOD!

LET GO! LET GOD!

As Christians, we make declarations from our lips, yet our lives and actions indicate something entirely different!

I am sure you have heard of the story of a man who stumbled and fell while hiking. After sliding off a huge rock, he grabbed a branch protruding from the side of the cliff. He could not climb back up, below him lay certain death, and he was slowly losing his grip on the branch.

In desperation the man began to scream, “Help! Is anybody up there?”

To his amazement, a booming voice answered, “I am here. I am God, and I will help you.” The man yelled, “Throw down a rope.”

“I don’t have a rope,” God responded, “but I can help you if you trust me.”

By now the man could barely hang on, “I trust you,” he screamed

God’s voice boomed, “Then let go of the branch

There was a moment of silence, and then the man yelled again, “Is anybody else up there?”

Of course, the answer to the question is “no.” God is the only solution when we are holding on “for dear life.” He, and He alone can help us out of our dilemma!   There is no one else “up there.”

Even when we are about to fall to our death, we refuse to let go and let God take complete control of our lives

Our problem is that we want to map out what plan of action God should use to “rescue” us! We are not the masters of our fates, the captains of our souls, nor can we execute our own rescue from trouble!

Before we pass judgment on this man, we need to take evaluation of the things we hold on to when God says, “Let go!”

ARE WE HOLDING ON TO:

sins we do not want to let go?

traditions we want to maintain?

the delusional “right” to orchestrate our own lives?

people who are not suppose to continue the journey with us?

positions, professions, property, and politics?

Whatever is causing us to look for “something else” instead of God is not worth holding on to.

Only God can toss out the real “life line” when we are drowning –   going down for the last time. He   –   and He alone is capable of rescuing us from the troubles of life!

The next time you call for help, you don’t have to ask, “Is there anyone up there?” Just say, “God, I am letting go so you can do what you do!”

LET GO! LET GOD!
